Shawflex accepted as a Copper Mark partner

We are pleased to announce that Shawflex has been accepted as a Partner of Copper Mark, which is the world’s first and only social and environmental assurance framework for copper production. Since 2019, the Copper Mark organization has worked to promote responsible production practices, in keeping with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Because copper is such a commonly used material – in batteries, solar power, clean mobility, electronic grids and wind power – this partnership is highly significant as manufacturing companies work to transition to clean energy options in their operations. Shawflex is one of only a handful of wire and cable manufacturers to be accepted as a Copper Mark Partner, and joins international companies such as Amazon, Google, Siemens Energy, Ford and Intel.

This new alliance increases Shawflex’s ability to meet both short-term and long-term sustainability goals. It also signals to customers that Shawflex is committed to partnering with copper producers and providers who meet Copper Mark’s stringent environmental and social production practices, including assessments against extensive climate-risk criteria.

As quoted by our Vice President & General Manager, Aaron Klejman – “The Copper Mark’s commitment to advance responsible copper production practices and contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals resonates with Shawflex’s drive to create a healthier, safer, and more equitable world for our employees, their families, our communities, and all our stakeholders. It is with great pleasure and excitement to announce Shawflex’s partnership with Copper Mark. We look forward to working together with the Copper Mark to improve environmental, social, and governance results in all areas of the copper value stream.”

By being a Copper Mark Partner and participating in their working groups, the Shawflex team has the opportunity to both learn from and contribute to Copper Mark’s initiatives. Most importantly, Shawflex becomes a key partner in efforts to support independently verified sustainable standards and practices around the world and across all sectors of the value chain.
