ShawFlex's Cathodic Protection cable is a Type II high
molecular weight medium density polyethylene construction offering
superior
abrasion and corrosion resistance. These cables are designed to provide
protection by acting as a DC feeder cable to electrically charged
metallic structures. The negative potential applied to these structures
offsets the natural effects of electrolysis and corrosion which would
otherwise occur.
Application
- Cathodic protection of metallic structures, suitable
for direct burial and cold temperature applications.
Standard Construction
- 7 strand concentric lay bare copper
- High molecular weight medium density polyethylene, black (other
colours available upon request), 75°C (167°F), 600 V
- Available with optional galvanized steel interlocked armour
Standard Specifications
- ASTM D-1248
- Type II (medium density polyethylene
- Class C (black in colour, not less than 2% carbon black)
- Category 5 (flow rate of less than 0.4 g/10 min (0.014 ounces/10
min), high molecular weight
- Grade E-11 (tensile strength of 24,821 kPa (3600
psi), brittleness temperature <-76°C (-103°F)
